The inanimate object will not cool below the actual air temperature. The only effect wind chill has on inanimate objects, such as car radiators and water pipes, is to shorten the amount of time for the object to cool. Increasing winds will accelerate the amount of heat lost by the body via exposed skin, driving down the body temperature. Stronger overnight winds are expected to die down around daybreak on Friday, the NWS said. Frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. People are urged to cover any exposed skin when going outside. Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw and Wayne counties were also under the advisory initially, but it was canceled for those counties early Friday morning.
